Tabuaeran is a remote location with limited resources. Our team works diligently to provide you with a personal and epic adventure on Fanning. On Fanning, you will live island-style, camp in huts, and fish long days. The trip is not for inexperienced anglers and requires an open mindset, flexibility, and a healthy body.

Logistics

Flight Schedule and Changes

There are no direct international flights to Fanning Island. Travelers must fly to Christmas Island (CXI) before taking the first available flight to Fanning (TNV). Air Kiribati is the only airline servicing the CXI-TNV route. The current flight schedule operates round-trip flights on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We work closely with the airline to ensure anglers make the most of their time on Fanning, but we will not be responsible for any changes the airline makes.

Food and Water

Meals feature local ingredients such as fresh fish, vegetables, and fruit, supplemented by rice and other staples. Anglers must self-manage dietary restrictions and should bring their own snacks, energy drinks, bars, etc. The lodge provides treated potable water for drinking.

WiFi and Power

Starlink Wi-Fi is available at the lodge during specific times. There is no cellular service on Fanning. Electrical power is provided by solar energy and can be limited (there is usually enough power to charge small devices).

Safety and Health

Medical care is limited on Fanning. In the case of a serious medical emergency, definitive care is a long way away. Anglers traveling to Fanning should be in good physical health and understand that, ultimately, personal safety is their own responsibility (as in, don’t get hurt chasing a big GT).

Insurance is Required

FIO requires that all guests obtain medical evacuation and travel insurance. The cost of medical services and travel disruptions is the angler’s responsibility.
